Track Onderwijs & Onderzoek : Contract Management starts during Contracting (ENG)

Contracting and contract management are often treated as unrelated practices where one person engages in the relationship with a supplier up to the point of signing a contract and another person takes over afterwards to manage the contract. Consequently, the contract manager steps into an already established relationship. At the same time, as contracts are usually incomplete and because rigid contract application can negatively impact the flexibility of the cooperation and reduce trust, contract management often translates to relationship management. This session will focus on how a relationship between a buyer and supplier that starts before an actual contract is signed influences the satisfaction with and perceived fairness of the contract and its management. Insights provided can help with integrating, yet also differentiating relationship management activities for each purchasing process.
